Very nice write-up! My older son worked at Cedar Breaks for 3 years and was instrumental in getting their Dark Sky designation. It is a beautiful place.
I’m almost ashamed to admit I’ve never heard of Cedar Breaks, and now I’m disappointed I never visited! This looks every bit as spectacular as Bryce Canyon and I’m sure much less visited. I used to drive from Flagstaff to Salt Lake once a month for a year and passed basically right next to Cedar Breaks and never made the time to stop… I always loved the drive and scenery in southern Utah. I will absolutely need to visit sometime!
One of my favorites places in Utah! If anyone visits there and in the late summer is ideal for it- go drive up to Brian's Head. Unparalleled sweeping views and often lots of sheep scattered below the treeless summit doing summer grazing.
Not to be confused with the ski resort! Spelled "Brian Head" Google tends to send searches to the ski resort so use search term "Brian Head Peak" and you eventually find a really nice set of photos showing the road and views. Unfortunately no sheep there that day!
I’ve been to Zion, and it’s so stunning! We often pass through Cedar city on our way back to Las Vegas from East Coast tours. We would pull over and visit! Also used to ski up there. Brian head I believe the name of the ski resort was called. Nostalgia! I think on one of my next trips to Vegas we’ll take a side trip up to Cedar City and visit tge park again. Thank you Jan🥰🥰😘

Always a weekly treat to read your reports, thank you Janet

I've visited Bryce and Zion and just learned of Cedar Breaks because of your post. What a beautiful place! Thank you!
"Circle of painted cliffs”: that works for me! So beautiful. And a Dark Sky destination. Wish I could be there.

Nice! I'll have to put this on our road trip agenda.
Huh. I've been to Zion. Been to Bryce. Never been to Cedar Breaks. How the heck did I miss that?
Yet another outstanding Substack post by Jan.
