"I was just kidding". "I wasnt" "I'll put you out of your misery." "Poor man, he was just too high strung". Some of many memorable lines from my all-time favorite western. Val Kilmer's Doc Holliday steals the show. "That's just my kind of game."

In 1964, Canadian actor Lorne Greene had an unlikely #1 hit with "Ringo", a haunting monologue about a man who might have caused Johnny's demise. ("A moment later, he lay dead...").

I saw the movie, but always thought that, in some way, he was referring to Huckleberry Finn. As a teacher I kept going back to the book and trying to see the metaphor, but failed. Now I know why. Thank you, Jan, It was a terrific article and I enjoyed it thoroughly.

Jan, are you going to be writing about Robert LeRoy Parker (aka Butch Cassidy) at any time? My Substack will be coming up on the time I found one of his hideouts, and if you're going to be writing about him, I'll be sure to link your post at that time.

A post needs to be dedicated to him. I haven't planned one yet. I always remember Cassidy Arch in Capitol Reef.

Interesting. I’ve driven right by Cassidy Arch and never knew it was there!
